About the Film
Sheila Turner Seed was a pioneering journalist, photographer, and filmmaker who, in the early 1970s, produced a landmark series of interviews with the century's greatest image-makers — among them Henri Cartier-Bresson, Gordon Parks, and Lisette Model. Then, at forty-two, she died suddenly. Her daughter, Rachel, was eighteen months old.
Decades later, Rachel discovers her mother's archive: reels of film, journals, photographs, and the voices of those interviews. A PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY is the story of a daughter reconstructing a mother from what she left behind — a genre-bending meditation on grief, inheritance, and the fragile promise that a photograph can hold a person in place.
